Quinn's First Haircut

We took Quinn out earlier today to get his first haircut. Now, I will honestly admit...this was completely Buddy's idea. He will not be mad for me saying this. I was content to leave Quinn with his fly-away, won't-lay-down-for-nothing, cute little baby curls. Buddy, on the other hand, felt it was time to get a haircut.

We went to our local Great Clips, where I always go to get my hair cut. The lady in the black outfit is Shelly, who always cuts my hair. We met her because she knows our fire chief. As you can see, Quinn is pretty content to be in the chair. But not for long....

Here he is with his little fish cape wrapped around his shoulders. I'm holding him up...for now.

Here Shelly is showing him the clippers and is letting him hold the comb. (Her clippers have a leopard print design...very trendy!)

Now let the cutting begin. Quinn was pretty cool about it at first. He was just sitting there, letting Shelly cut away.

But, all good things must come to an end. I had to hold him in my lap, but as you can see, he is anxiously trying to get away from me. If you look closely, you can see tears in his eyes. From this point on, it got pretty ugly...crying, wailing, and screaming. And Quinn was pretty upset too! In all honesty, I didn't cry, but I did feel my eyes welling up. This was a big moment. My baby boy went from being a cute little baby with fly-away curls.....

....to the cutest little man I've ever seen. Yes, it really is as short as it looks! I guess it will grow back. I miss his curls already, but his Daddy was pretty pleased with how it looked. Quinn was pretty worn out when it was all over with. He pretty much cried the whole time, so he was glad to get his paci when the trauma was over.

And by the time we got home, all was right with the world! Isn't he precious. I think I can get used to the "new Quinn"!

OK for the haircut i must take full responsibility. Any one who knows me well will know that i would have gone shorter....... Hair is more of a hassel than it is worth.....Some say it is for warmth...USE A HAT. Others say it is for fashion........not much into that.
At any rate I was able to get kim to quit crying with the use of a sucker and a small stuffed elephant. Just Kidding. I think he looks good and i think his momma will agree (when the hair grows out)

Awww...I'm going to miss his curls:o( but it does look nice on him. That first haircut for a boy makes them look so much older instantly.

My goodness, our sweet baby boy now looks like a little man. Can't wait to see the haircut in person. We knew the day would come when you would get his curly locks cut and it's a little sad but he is growing up and the hair cut looks great.

Sooo Cute!

Tanner and Alex both had their first hair cut done by their aunt Heather and both were very nervous. Tanner was 3 (i believe) when he had the razor put to him and that did it for him, but Heather bribed him with icecream and that was good enough!

Heather, if you're reading this, does Tanner still sit on the sink????

I have to admit that I missed his curls this morning but her looks really cute. He has gone from that baby look to a little boy.

Buddy's comment is funny!

This is what mommy blogs are all about, documenting and sharing these milestones. I can't remember exactly when Joshua had his first haircut, but I don't think we waited until his first birthday. Quinn, you look like a fine young man, and I'm sure all the little girls in the nursery noticed! What a cutie! Thanks for sharing. (Oh, and Joshua STILL cries when he's getting a haircut!)

The haircut looks great! And I agree with Heathers comment...little boys look so grown up after their first haircuts.

Great blog. He looks so grown up but I like little boy's hair cuts. I am just glad he does not have a Buddy cut. Not that it does not look great on Buddy but a little boy does need a little hair.
