Grandma's Test Results

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned a prayer request for my Grandmother. Today she got all the test results back.

First of all, the arteries in her neck have some calcium deposits. That's what was causing the "whooshing" sound in her neck. This can be treated with medication. PRAISE!!

Second, they determined that she has something called Aortic Valve Stenosis. In a medical nutshell, this is when the aortic valve becomes more narrow than normal, causing blood to not be able to flow like it should. The doctor thinks he can also manage these symptoms with medication. PRAISE!!

Finally, they determined after an overnight heart monitor test, that she is averaging a heart rate of 48 beats per minute. The average heart rate is 72 beats per minute. So, as you can see, hers is significantly lower. To manage this problem, she will be having a pacemaker installed next Thursday, March 12th. PRAYER REQUEST!!

We are hoping that through the pacemaker and medication, she will get her energy back. She has been increasingly tired lately, and with a low heart rate, and narrow valves, well, you can see why she has been tired.

Please continue to pray for Grandma as she goes through this procedure next week, and will have to stay overnight for observation.

Here is a picture (taken a year ago) of my wonderful Grandmother, so you can see who you are praying for. She is holding Quinn, age 10 days, her first great-grand child. Can you believe she will be 89 in July??

My entire family thanks you for your prayers.

I will be praying for your grandmother. I can read into your blog how much she means to you. I have always said there is nothing like great grandparents. I hope you have a generations picture of all of you. What a treasure she must be to you. She definitly does not look her age.
